Soreng, March 26, 2026 –

The Food and Civil Supplies Department, Soreng District, successfully organised a One Day at School programme at Mangsari Secondary School to educate students on food security, consumer rights, and departmental initiatives.

DCSO Soreng Mr. Jas Man Subba provided an overview of the program, reinforcing its objectives and relevance. He also highlighted the importance of the district led initiative of One Day at School where the District Administration would interact with students in providing information about the departmental schemes and programmes which would guide the students to be better prepared for future.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Bikash Subba, setting the tone for an engaging and informative session. Assistant Director Mr. Dushyant Dithal delivered a comprehensive awareness talk, highlighting the Public Distribution System, the significance of the National Food Security Act, and the functioning of the department. He elaborated on key schemes including Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Household (PHH), Other Priority Household (OPH), and Non-Priority Household (NPH), while also explaining the concept and benefits of fortified rice.

Adding a cultural dimension, Inspector Mr. Bhupendra Subba presented a musical performance, followed by Inspector Ms. Sapna Tamang of the Legal Metrology Unit and Consumer Protection Cell, who explained the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and the Packaged Commodities Rules, 2011. A dance performance by Mrs. Trishna Tamang further enriched the program.

Headmistress Mrs. Antim Shankar addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of such initiatives for student awareness.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Bikash Subba.
