A training and workshop on waste segregation and solid waste management was held today at the Resource Recovery Centre (RRC), Yuksam, under the Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU), Yuksam.
The programme focused on practical aspects of waste management including segregation, record keeping, the bailing process and the sale and disposal of recyclable materials.
The session was facilitated by Mr Tseten Tashi Bhutia, In-charge of PWMU Yuksam, along with the staff of the RRC. The participants of the training programme were representatives and members from Melli Aching Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU).
Among those present were Mr San Man Limboo, Block Development Officer (BDO), Yuksam, Assistant Director of Melli Aching GPU and Mr Abhimanyu Chettri, Research Scholar from Leiden University.
The workshop aimed to strengthen awareness and capacity in scientific waste management practices and highlighted the importance of systematic segregation and efficient resource recovery in achieving sustainable waste management in the region. Participants were also trained in maintaining proper records and improving operational efficiency at the RRC
