Awareness Programme on Government Schemes Held at Gyalshing District
Gyalshing 8 July:
One-day awareness programme on various Central and State Government schemes was successfully organised by the Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (SEED) Cell and the District Industries Centre (DIC) Gyalshing, under the Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim at Khechuperi GPU and Meli Aching GPU on 08/07/2026.
The programme aimed to establish a robust support system for unemployed youth, aspiring entrepreneurs, and existing business owners by enhancing their awareness of various government initiatives. Participants were sensitised on a range of schemes, including financial assistance programmes, online marketing platforms, and mentorship opportunities designed to support entrepreneurial growth and career development.
Keynote adderss deliberated by Smt. Hari Maya Gurung, Dostrict Coordinator, SEED Cell, Gyalshing District, stated that the SEED Cell is focused towards young aspirants and provides support and encouragement to emerging entrepreneurs.
She emphasised the importance of cultivating the right mindset among students to help them achieve their life goals. Furthermore, she highlighted the government’s continued efforts to promote entrepreneurship, strengthen local industries, and generate employment opportunities, aligning with the vision of “One Family, One Entrepreneur.”
The programme was graced by Shri Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, Hon'ble Panchayat President Khechuperi GPU as a Chief Guest and Shri Deepak Kumar Rai, Hon'ble Panchayat President, Meli Aching GPU as a Chief Guest respectively.
The welcome and keynote address was delivered by Shri Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara, SEED Cell, Presentation on PMEGP, Udhyam Registration and Role of DIC by Shri Ivan Gurung, Junior Engineer- DIC Gyalshing and Sumit Dong Inspector- DIC Gyalshing, Presentation on Financial Literacy by Shri Aashish Gurung, Senior Officer COFU
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included, Hon'ble Panchayat Members of Khechuperi GPU and Meli Aching GPU, staff and officials from different Departments, staff from DIC Gyalshing and SEED Cell, Gangtok.
The programme witnessed active participation from existing and aspiring entrepreneurs. An interactive session was conducted wherein participants engaged directly with resource persons to clarify their queries and gain practical insights.
The programme was successfully coordinated and conducted by Shri Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara Operational Manager-SEED Cell.
