Gyalshing,September 12(IPR):A tragic landslide struck Rimbik village under Yangthang constituency on the night of September 11, triggered by the heavy rainfall.
The calamity claimed the life of Bhim Prasad Limboo,52 years(House Owner),Bimal Rai ,50 (brother-in-law of the deceased),Anita Limboo,46 (sister of deceased), whose house and kitchen were completely damaged in the disaster.Ms Mon Maya Rai,50(wife of Bhim Pd Limboo)and Ms Angela Rai,7(daughter of Bimal Rai)sustained injuries and were sent for medical treatment at District hospital Gyalshing.Mr Suk Bdr Limboo (44) was rescued safely by the rescue team on the night of the incident.
Minister-cum-Area MLA Mr Bhim Hang Limboo visited the bereaved family to offer condolences and extend support in this moment of grief. He also took stock of the damages caused by the landslide.
District Collector Gyalshing examined the landslide site and carried out a detailed evaluation of the damages caused to Bhim Pd Limboo's house which was totally washed away during the night.
Further,DC Gyalshing handed over Ex gratia to the family members of the deceased as per norms in presence of Area MLA(Yangthang), Mr Bhim Hang Limboo.
It was reported during the evaluation that the victims of the landslde will be relocated to a safe location.
