Namchi, June 10 (IPR): The State Institute of Capacity Building (SICB), Government of Sikkim, commenced a three-month training programme on the job role of Office Secretary under its Grant-in-Aid Scheme at Namchi, today. The training is being facilitated by Kuber World Pvt. Ltd., a skill development firm based in Gangtok.
The inaugural programme was graced by the District Collector, Namchi, Ms. Anupa Tamling, as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the participants, the District Collector described the training as a valuable opportunity for officials to enhance their professional competencies and workplace skills. She highlighted that Sikkim is fortunate to have the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister, Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, whose emphasis on capacity building and human resource development continues to create opportunities for the people of the State.
She stated that the training programme aims not only to improve technical and administrative skills but also to help participants identify their strengths and areas for improvement. Encouraging the trainees to work towards self-development, she urged them to strengthen their capabilities and transform challenges into opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Emphasising the importance of discipline and commitment, the DC called upon all participants to maintain regular attendance throughout the programme. She noted that the training would help enhance office management and administrative skills while also strengthening communication and public relations abilities. Stressing the importance of courteous and professional conduct, she remarked that government servants are entrusted with serving the public and addressing their grievances effectively. She further advised the participants to demonstrate dedication, sincerity, and accountability throughout the training period.
Concluding her address, the DC expressed her gratitude to SICB and Kuber World Pvt. Ltd. for their cooperation in organising the programme for officials of various departments in the district. She also underscored the need for similar capacity-building initiatives in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM (Namchi) Mr. Wangyal Sherpa, highlighted the Chief Minister's vision of developing a skilled and efficient workforce across government departments. He urged the participants to approach the training with seriousness and commitment and informed that attendance would be mandatory throughout the course.
In his address, Assistant Director (SICB) Mr. C.K. Chettri, stated that all training programmes undertaken by the institute are implemented with the approval and support of the Chief Minister. He noted that such initiatives are designed to enhance individual competencies and develop efficient professionals capable of meeting evolving workplace requirements. He encouraged the trainees to make full use of the opportunity and extend their cooperation in ensuring the success of the programme.
President, SEED Cell-cum-Founder and Director of Kuber World Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Raj Lama, briefed the gathering on the objectives of the training programme. He stated that the course is designed to strengthen the foundational competencies required of government officials and equip them with skills relevant to a rapidly changing professional environment. He observed that continuous learning and upskilling are essential for improving workplace efficiency and public service delivery.
He further stated that the Chief Minister has consistently supported initiatives aimed at creating a skilled workforce across government departments, thereby contributing to the overall development of the State. He called for collective efforts towards realising the vision of a competent and self-reliant workforce. He also highlighted that the training would contribute significantly to improving communication skills, professionalism, accountability, and overall work efficiency.
Earlier, the Division Head, Skill Division, Kuber World Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Bivek Chettri, delivered the welcome address. Thereafter, Master Trainer, Kuber World Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Bijayta Darnal, briefed the participants on the various modules included in the training programme, such as shorthand writing and typing, basic file management, office administration, and other essential professional skills.
The three-month training programme will be conducted at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Centre, Namchi, with the participation of 35 government officials from various departments of the district. The training sessions will be facilitated by Master Trainers Ms. Bijayta Darnal, Ms. Jigmee Sherpa, and Mr. Rajesh Tamang.
The inaugural programme was also attended by officers and officials of the State Institute of Capacity Building and the participating trainee officials from various line departments of Namchi district.
