Temi Namphing Constituency Wins Namchi District Level Ramayan Recitation Competition.
Namchi, 29 June (IPR):
The Constituency Level Ramayan Recitation (Path) Competition for Namchi District, organised on the auspicious occasion of the National Level 212th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, was held at Town Hall, Namchi, today.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, MLA of 11 Namchi-Singhithang Constituency, Mr Satish Chandra Rai. Along with O9 Barfung MLA, Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Mr Satish Chandra Rai congratulated and commended all the participants for their outstanding performances. He stated that while every competition has only one winner all the participating teams had displayed remarkable talent, dedication and sportsmanship. He encouraged those who could not secure a winning position not to be disheartened, emphasizing that their sincere efforts and participation were equally commendable.
He also lauded the dedicated leadership and dynamic initiatives undertaken by the DC Namchi, Ms Anupa Tamling, towards the overall development and welfare of the district and the state.
Further, He extending his best wishes to the winning team, he expressed confidence that they would perform exceptionally well while representing the district in the upcoming competition against teams from other districts.
The competition witnessed participation from all seven constituencies of Namchi District as part of the selection process for the National Level 212th Birth Anniversary celebration of Adikavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, which will be held at Soreng District on 13 July 2026.
The winners of the competition were:
1st Place: Temi Namphing Constituency
2nd Place: Barfung Constituency
3rd Place: Poklok Kamrang Constituency
Temi Namphing Constituency emerged as the winner from Namchi District and will represent the district at the National Level celebration of Bhanu Jayanti at Soreng District.
The judges of the competition were:
i) CEO, Mr G P Sharma
ii) Principal, Namchi Government College, Dr Deepak Tiwari
iii) Assistant Professor, Dr T B Chettri Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (NBBGC), Gangtok.
The competition was conducted as per the following rules and guidelines:
i)Each team was provided 2 minutes to arrange musical instruments and prepare before the presentation, followed by 5 minutes for the Ramayan recitation.
ii) Participants were required to wear traditional attire during the performance.
iii) To inform the judging panel about the selected section/chapter (Shloka/Adhyaya) of the Ramayan before commencing their presentation.
iv) Each participating team may consist of 10 members.
It may be noted that the competition was conducted in a fair and unbiased manner. To ensure impartiality, participants were asked to pick a chit containing alphabets from A to G, ensuring that the identity of the constituency was not revealed before the recitation and maintaining transparency throughout the competition.
The programme was attended by Additional Political Secretary to HCM, Mr Bishnu Kumar Sharma, DC Namchi Ms Anupa Tamling, Advisors, Chairpersons, OSDs, ADC (HQ) Namchi Mr Subash Ghimirey, Zilla Panchayats, Zilla Upadakshya, Panchayats, SDMs, Participants from various constituencies, students and teachers from different Schools, dignitaries from various line departments.
