Special Intensive Revision Hearings Continue Across Gangtok District

Gangtok, August 5 (IPR): In continuation of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, hearings on notices issued under the revision process were held across various Assembly Constituencies of Gangtok District today in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The proceedings are being carried out to examine claims and objections submitted by electors and to ensure that the electoral rolls are updated through due verification.

A total of 2,497 hearings were conducted across the district during the day.

The constituency-wise details are as follows:

* 16-Tumen-Lingi Assembly Constituency: 116 hearings

* 17-Khamdong-Singtam Assembly Constituency: 172 hearings

* 23-Shyari Assembly Constituency: 525 hearings

* 24-Martam-Rumtek Assembly Constituency: 269 hearings

* 25-Upper Tadong Assembly Constituency: 131 hearings

* 26-Arithang Assembly Constituency: 517 hearings

* 27-Gangtok Assembly Constituency: 206 hearings

* 28-Upper Burtuk Assembly Constituency: 501 hearings

* 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency: 60 hearings

The hearing process provides applicants with an opportunity to present their claims and objections before the designated authorities for consideration in accordance with the prescribed procedures. The exercise is aimed at ensuring that the electoral rolls remain accurate, inclusive and up to date, thereby strengthening the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.
