Special Intensive Revision Hearing Process Continues Across Gangtok District

Gangtok, August 11 (IPR): The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls continued in Gangtok District today, with notice hearings taken up across various Assembly Constituencies in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The proceedings provided for the examination of claims and objections and consideration of applications submitted during the revision process.

A total of 1,226 hearings were conducted across the district during the day. The constituency-wise details are as follows:

•16-Tumen-Lingi Assembly Constituency: 197 hearings

•17-Khamdong-Singtam Assembly Constituency: 88 hearings

•23-Shyari Assembly Constituency: 172 hearings

•24-Martam-Rumtek Assembly Constituency: 280 hearings

•25-Upper Tadong Assembly Constituency: No hearings conducted

•26-Arithang Assembly Constituency: 65 hearings

•27-Gangtok Assembly Constituency: 98 hearings

•28-Upper Burtuk Assembly Constituency: 248 hearings

•32-Sangha Assembly Constituency: 78 hearings

The hearings are being taken up by the designated electoral authorities to ensure due consideration of cases received during the revision process. The proceedings are aimed at supporting a transparent and systematic revision of electoral records and ensuring that eligible electors are duly included in the electoral roll.
