Gangtok, August 13 (IPR): Notice hearings under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were taken up at various Assembly Constituencies of Gangtok District today, in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The proceedings involved the consideration of cases arising during the revision process, with designated electoral authorities examining claims and objections as per the prescribed procedure.
A total of 429 hearings were conducted across the district during the day. The constituency-wise details are as follows:
* 16-Tumen-Lingi Assembly Constituency: 53 hearings
* 17-Khamdong-Singtam Assembly Constituency: 29 hearings
* 23-Shyari Assembly Constituency: 11 hearings
* 24-Martam-Rumtek Assembly Constituency: 110 hearings
* 25-Upper Tadong Assembly Constituency: No hearings conducted
* 26-Arithang Assembly Constituency: 53 hearings
* 27-Gangtok Assembly Constituency: No hearings conducted
* 28-Upper Burtuk Assembly Constituency: 173 hearings
* 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency: No hearings conducted
The hearings are being conducted as part of the prescribed revision process to facilitate due consideration of claims and objections. The exercise aims to ensure proper scrutiny of electoral records and contribute to the preparation of an accurate, updated and inclusive electoral roll, while maintaining transparency and adherence to due process.
