Soreng District's First Nagar Panchayat Councillors Oath Taking Ceremony successfully conducted
Soreng, May 2 (IPR):
The oath taking ceremony of the newly elected members of Soreng Nagar Panchayat 2026 was held today at the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Soreng.
The oath of office and allegiance was administered by the Municipal Returning Officer and District Magistrate, Soreng, Mr Dhiraj Subedi, wherein the elected representatives pledged to discharge their duties with dedication, integrity and in the interest of public welfare in the august presence of MLA (Soreng-Chakung) Mr Aditya Golay alongside State Bank of Sikkim, Chairperson Mr DB Gurung.
The following member took oath as Soreng Nagar Panchayat, Councillors:
1. Ms Santi Kala Limbu for Ward No. 01 Singling (ST) (W) from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party.
2. Mr Naren Subba for Ward No. 02 Dara Bazar (UR) from Bharatiya Janata Party.
3. Ms Dina Hangma Subba for Ward No. 03 Soreng Bazar (ST) (W) from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party.
4. Mr Dil Prasad Jogi for Ward No. 04 Pragrati Chowk (OBC) (C) from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party.
5. Ms Divya Subba for Ward No. 05 Daragaon (ST) (W) from Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party.
Following the oath taking ceremony, Ms Dina Hangma Subba was elected unanimously the President of the Soreng Nagar Panchayat and Mr Dil Prasad Jogi as the Vice President of the Soreng Nagar Panchayat.
In the ceremony, MLA (Soreng-Chakung) Mr Aditya Golay, extended his greetings and congratulated the newly elected members of Soreng Nagar Panchayat as Counsellors.
During his address, he expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for the formation and establishment of the Nagar Panchayat, stating that it was a historic occasion for the district to witness the constitution of its urban local body.
He further intimated that the elected members would undergo orientation and technical sessions to familiarise themselves with the relevant Acts, roles, responsibilities and functioning of the Nagar Panchayat for effective governance and administration.
Concluding his address, Mr Aditya Golay urged all members to work collectively and collaboratively as a team for the overall development, progress and betterment of the district and its people.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the establishment of Soreng Nagar Panchayat, with the newly elected members assuming office as counsellors and affirming their commitment to serving the people with sincerity and responsibility.
Also present in the meeting were Zilla Adhakshya Mrs Tila Devi Gurung , Zilla Upa-Adhakshya Mr Chandra Bir Kami, APS to HCM (Soreng) Mr Eras Lucksom, OSDs, SP (Soreng) Mr Nahkul Pradhan, ADC Mr DR Bista, ADC (Development) Mr Ongdi Sherpa, Chief Town Planner cum Nodal Officer of Namchi Smart City Mr Navin Rai, BDOs, Bazar Officer (UDD) Ms Mary Gold Lucksom along with Heads of Departments and officials of (UDD) Soreng.
