The fifth day of the week-long Sikkim Adventure Tourism Festival from November 1-7 held at Linkhim Tar, organised by the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department added momentum to the already exhilarating and thrilling festival.
Defying all odds, today’s event witnessed participation of a 72 year old woman, namely, Ms Man Maya Subba, a patient despite suffering from paralysis defied all odds and soared the skies.
The first relay adventure team comprising of two rafts and one safety kayak witnessed notable participation from President, National Adventure Foundation, Lt. Gen Raman Dhawan and AO, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Col Mr Harpreet Singh among five others who then moved on to attend the 2nd IHCAE Sikkim Partnership Conclave 2026 at Chemchey, Namchi District, while the other raft consisted of seven members totalling to a participation of 14 members in today’s adventure relay. The team reached Linkhim Tar by 1:20 pm and was received by Deputy Director (Adventure Cell), Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mr Manoj Chettri.
The day’s events included an intra-departmental obstacle course competition among teams representing different sections of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, namely Information and Publicity, Administration, Engineering Cell (Planning and Project), and Asset Section. The inter-departmental competition, meanwhile, saw participation from Team B of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department and Sikkim INSPIRES (Programme Management Unit).
It may be mentioned that the Sikkim Adventure Tourism Fest 2026 (SATF 2026), organised by the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim, is being held from November 1 to 7 at Linkhim Tar, Namthang, in Namchi district. The week-long festival features a diverse range of adventure activities across air, land and water, showcasing Sikkim’s immense potential as an emerging adventure tourism destination.
