Soreng, September 11 (IPR): The School Games 2026 Block-Level Competition for Under-17 Boys and Girls under Soreng District was held at Jautar Playground, Soreng, and was organised by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Soreng.
The event was attended by Senior Welfare Officer Ms Prativa Tamang and Block Development Officer (BDO) Soreng, Mr Paro Hang Subba, as guests.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Soreng, Ms Mamita Gurung, highlighted the objectives of organising the event, stating that it aims to identify and nurture sporting talent from the grassroots level. She informed that the Block-Level School Games 2026 have been successfully conducted across all four blocks of Soreng District.
Ms Mamita Gurung encouraged students to actively participate in sports, noting that the upcoming district-level competitions will feature various sporting disciplines. She emphasised that the School Games are intended to promote holistic development and provide opportunities for young athletes to showcase their talents.
She also advised students to maintain discipline for a successful future, underlining the physical and mental benefits of outdoor sports. Urging students to reduce their dependence on mobile games, she encouraged them to engage more in outdoor activities for a healthier and more active lifestyle.
