"Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0" Launched in Soreng District


Soreng, February 2 (IPR): Soreng district launched "Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0" under Aspirational District Programme today at Rurban Complex, Soreng, in the presence of MLA (Soreng–Chakung) Mr Aditya Golay.

The programme commenced with a visit to health camps and stalls set up by the Health Department and ICDS.

Addressing the house, the MLA Mr Aditya Golay expressed hope that the district would achieve the saturation targets under the Aspirational District Programme (ADP) and Aspirational Block Programme (ABP). He then urged all departments to work in close coordination and appreciated the district’s commitment. Further appreciating the district’s commitment, he stressed the need for village visits to identify beneficiaries who have been left out and assured full support and assistance.

The MLA also spoke on administrative infrastructure, emphasising the utilisation of existing infrastructure that remains underused. Highlighting the role of the Institute for Transforming Sikkim (ITS), he said the ITS would function on a need based approach. He further emphasised that while the government committed to asset creation, maintenance must be ensured through revenue generated from the assets themselves.

Concluding his address, the MLA called upon all line departments to work collectively to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) under Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0.

DC (Soreng) Mr Dhiraj Subedi in his address elaborated on Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 along with the Aspirational District Programme and Aspirational Block Programme. He then highlighted the KPIs and shared the district’s achievements, informing that the Soreng district has been awarded gold and silver medals for its performance under ABP and ADP respectively. The DC also informed that Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 will continue till April 14, underscoring the district's strong commitment to the mission. He emphasised micro level planning at the village, identification of genuine left out beneficiaries and convergence of departmental efforts. He further urged all concerned line departments to conduct field visits and engage directly with beneficiaries, calling for 100 percent commitment towards achieving KPIs.

During the programme, the Sampoornata Abhiyan Pledge was administered by the MLA (Soreng–Chakung) Mr Aditya Golay. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 were launched. Also, certificates were presented to 10 Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS) beneficiaries and bank passbooks were distributed to five beneficiaries under the Sikkim Shishu Samriddhi Yojana, as part of the Mero Rukh Mero Santati initiative.

A detailed presentation on Aspirational District Programme (ADP) and Aspirational Block Programme (ABP) was presented by ADC (Soreng) Mr DR Bista, outlining the roadmap and KPIs, five under ADP and six under ABP and urged departments to identify critical gaps. Mentioning the district’s achievements, he highlighted that over 9,000 farmers in the district have received Soil Health Cards. He also explained the objectives and other key aspects of Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0, stressing the need to sustain and consolidate the gains achieved earlier.

Also present at the event were Zilla Panchayat Members, Panchayats, ADC (Development) Mr Gaayas Pega, SDM (HQ) Mr Prem K Subba, SDM (Soreng) Ms Sakchum Lepcha, district HoDs, BDOs, Aspirational Block Fellow Mr Aditya Raj Sharma, ASHA workers, Anganwadi & Health workers and SHG members.
