Gangtok, April 17 (IPR):
Ahead of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s visit to the state, scheduled for the 27th and 28th of April to mark the culmination of the Golden Jubilee Year of Statehood celebrations, a recce was conducted today to assess preparedness and ensure seamless coordination across all key venues and routes.
The team comprised Additional District Magistrate, Gangtok, Mr Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia; Additional Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Mr Bishal Khawas; Additional Chief Engineer, Roads and Bridges Department, Mr Saurav Lepcha; Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Gangtok, Mr Mahendra Chettri; Divisional Engineer, Roads and Bridges Department, Mr Bobby Wazalingpa; Senior Bazaar Officer, GMC, Mr Bishnu Thapa; Deputy Director, DDMA, Ms Bijayata Kharel; and Junior Engineer, Roads and Bridges Department, Mr Thinlay Wangchuk.
The team first inspected Maitreya Manjari, where Inspector General, Special Branch, Mr Pratap Pradhan, and DySP, Special Branch, Ms Karma Dolma, briefed the members on the security protocol in place at the site.
Thereafter, the team visited the Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts and Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College. Officials briefed the Director, DHH, Mr Tshering Topgay Bhutia, and the Principal, NBBGC, Dr D Purohit, respectively, on the live telecast arrangements for the programme scheduled to be held at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok.
At MG Marg, officials of the Roads and Bridges Department briefed the inspection team on the road mapping for the Prime Minister’s scheduled roadshow. The site was also inspected for the setup of the live telecast feed of the programme at Paljor Stadium.
