Paryavaran Parva 2026 begins in Yuksam Range with plantation drive.

Gyalshing, July 1 (IPR): Yuksam Range under the Forest and Environment Department launched the fortnight-long Sikkim Paryavaran Parva 2026 with a brief inaugural programme Today at Khangchendzonga National Park (KNP) Office in Yuksam.

The state-wide environmental campaign, being observed from July 1 to July 14 under the theme "Leave a Green Legacy," aims to promote environmental conservation, afforestation, and public awareness through a series of activities, including tree plantation drives, roadside plantations, large-scale cleanliness campaigns, and a special observance dedicated to honouring Mother Earth.

The inaugural programme in Yuksam was graced by Advisor to the State Medicinal Plants Board, Mr NB Limboo, in the presence of Gyalshing Zilla Adakshya Mr Ds Limboo. The dignitaries participated in a plantation drive, underscoring the importance of collective efforts towards environmental protection and sustainable development.

Among those present were Range Officer (KNP/T) Mr Tenzing W Bhutia, Panchayat Vice President Mr Karzang Bhutia, Panchayat Member Ms Sabitri Chettri, and Panchayat Member Mr Bhim Gurung.

Officials and staff of the KNP and T Range, including Block Officer, Forest Guards, and local stakeholders, actively participated in the plantation programme.

Range Officer Mr Tenzing W Bhutia highlighted the objectives of Paryavaran Parva and urged everyone to actively contribute towards conserving the environment and leaving a greener legacy for future generations.

The statewide observance of Sikkim Paryavaran Parva 2026 was officially launched earlier in the day at MG Marg, Gangtok, marking the beginning of two weeks of environment-focused activities across the state.
