Pakyong, May 31 (IPR): The Pakyong District Athletics Association, in coordination with the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, conducted the District Athletics Meet-cum-Selection Trial at the St. Xavier’s School Ground, Pakyong today.
A total of 135 athletes, including boys and girls, participated in events under the following categories:
1. Under-14 Boys & Girls
2. Under-16 Boys & Girls
3. Open Men & Women
Selected athletes and event winners will represent Pakyong District at the upcoming State Athletics Meet, scheduled to begin on June 4 at Reshithang Sports Complex.
The President of the District Athletics Association, Mr Pincho Bhutia, conveyed appreciation to North East Pharma Pack, Pacheykhani, for their support. He also acknowledged the valuable guidance extended by ADC (Development) Mr Sangay Gyatso Bhutia and thanked the Principal of St. Xavier’s School.
The programme was attended by Assistant Directors Manoj Gurung, Robert Lepcha, and Bharat Tamang. Coaches Tashi Rana and D.K. Chettri, escort teachers, Physical Education teachers, and officials of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs were also present.
