Pakyong, August 03 (IPR): The Open Knockout Football Tournament 2026, organised as part of the celebrations of the 80th Independence Day, entered its third day at the St Xavier's School Ground, Pakyong, today.
The tournament is being organised by Pakyong Sporting Club in collaboration with the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong.
The day's programme was attended by social worker Mr Pawan Gurung as the chief guest.
Zilla Adhyaksha, Pakyong District, Mrs Laden Lamu Bhutia, along with social workers Mr Suren Tamang, Mr Suresh Tamang and Mr Tashi Wangchuk Bhutia, attended as special guests.
The tournament featured a match between Pakyong United Sporting Club and Northerners FC, with Northerners FC registering a 2-1 victory.
As part of the tournament, a tug-of-war competition on a knockout basis among clubs, associations and local groups is also being organised.
The programme also featured a band display by the students of St Xavier's School, Pakyong.
The tournament also had the presence of DFO (T), Mr SP Bhutia; Principal, Dikling Senior Secondary School, Mr Deepak Sharma; Bazar Officer, UDD, Mr DP Sharma; SHO, Pakyong, Mr Pradeep Chettri and general public.
