Notice Hearings Under Special Intensive Revision Continue Across Gangtok District

Gangtok, July 28 (IPR): As part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, notice hearings were conducted across various Assembly Constituencies of Gangtok District today in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The proceedings are intended to facilitate the examination of claims and objections received during the revision process and support the preparation of a comprehensive and updated electoral roll.

A total of 1,962 notice hearings were held across the district during the day. The constituency-wise details are as follows:

* 16-Tumen-Lingi Assembly Constituency: 53 hearings

* 17-Khamdong-Singtam Assembly Constituency: 346 hearings

* 23-Shyari Assembly Constituency: 413 hearings

* 24-Martam-Rumtek Assembly Constituency: 235 hearings

* 25-Upper Tadong Assembly Constituency: 238 hearings

* 26-Arithang Assembly Constituency: 130 hearings

* 27-Gangtok Assembly Constituency: 213 hearings

* 28-Upper Burtuk Assembly Constituency: 226 hearings

* 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency: 108 hearings

The hearing process forms an important component of the Special Intensive Revision programme to ensure that electoral rolls are updated through fair and transparent scrutiny of applications. The initiative seeks to facilitate the enrolment of all eligible electors while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the electoral database in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
