Gyalshing, August 22 (IPR): Minister for Housing and Building and Labour Department-cum-Area MLA, Yangthang, Mr Bhim Hang Limboo, inaugurated the newly constructed Gram Panchayat Kendra (GPK)/Village Administrative Centre (VAC) of 12-Nambu-Sindrabung Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) in Gyalshing District, today.
The inaugural programme was attended by Chairman, Rural Development Department, Mr Narayan Khatiwada, Advisor, State Trading Corporation of Sikkim (STCS), Mr D. R. Limboo, Secretary Panchayati Raj Department Mr Dushyant Pariyar, District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D. Denzongpa, ADC (Development) RDD Gyalshing Mr Surat Gurung, CMO Health Gyalshing Mr Namgay Bhutia, DIO IPRD Gyalshing Mr Rajen Tamang, BDO Gyalshing Mr Garap Dorjee Bhutia, Zilla Panchayat Member Mr J. B. Limboo, Panchayat representatives, officials, retired government employees, senior citizens and local residents.
Upon arrival, the Chief Guest and dignitaries were accorded a warm welcome. Minister Limboo unveiled the commemorative plaque and inspected the newly constructed GPK before being escorted to the main hall by the Panchayat President for the formal programme.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Limboo highlighted the important role of Panchayati Raj Institutions in strengthening grassroots-level governance and facilitating effective delivery of public services. Congratulating the people of 12-Nambu-Sindrabung GPU on the completion of the new facility, he called upon Panchayat representatives to work in close coordination with the community and concerned departments and remain responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
He stated that the GPK has been equipped with the necessary amenities to facilitate the smooth functioning of Panchayati Raj activities. He urged Panchayat representatives and officials to make effective use of the facility and discharge their responsibilities with dedication, sincerity and accountability.
Minister Limboo further emphasised that Panchayat institutions serve as an important link between the administration and the people. He stressed the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and sanctity of the GPK and ensuring that the facility remains accessible and responsive to the public.
Speaking on the development of the constituency, Minister Limboo recalled the establishment of the GPK and highlighted various developmental initiatives undertaken for the holistic development of the area. He stated that the initiatives are being pursued under the farsighted vision of Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, with emphasis on ensuring that the benefits of development reach the people at the grassroots level.
The Minister reiterated the State Government’s commitment towards efficient and accessible public service delivery and assured continued support towards addressing the development needs and feasible aspirations of the people of the constituency.
The Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, in his brief address, sensitised the gathering on the objectives and aspirations of the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) in the State. He emphasised the importance of strengthening Panchayati Raj Institutions and enhancing their capacity to deliver quality public services at the grassroots level.
Mr Pariyar appreciated the people-oriented approach of the Minister-cum-Area MLA, Yangthang, and the persistent efforts of the District Administration in facilitating the establishment of the GPK. He also commended the Panchayat representatives and the contractor for ensuring that the Kendra was constructed in keeping with the objective of providing accessible and quality public services to the people.
The District Collector, Gyalshing, in his address, congratulated the Panchayat representatives and stakeholders on the successful inauguration of the GPK. He stated that the timely completion of the facility reflected the commitment of the District Administration towards effective implementation of development initiatives at the grassroots level.
Mr Denzongpa stated that the District Administration has been working continuously towards improving public service delivery across the district. He added that the GPK, equipped with modern facilities, would provide a dedicated platform for Panchayat-level administration and public interaction. He further informed that the proposed integration of a Common Service Centre in the near future would facilitate easier access to various government services for the people.
The ADC (Development) RDD Gyalshing, in his address, extended his congratulations and best wishes to the Panchayat representatives and people of 12-Nambu-Sindrabung GPU on the inauguration of the GPK. He acknowledged the efforts of the Minister-cum-Area MLA Yangthang, District Collector Gyalshing, Panchayat representatives, contractor and landowner in facilitating the establishment of the facility with public service and community development as the primary objectives.
He also emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness and preserving the sanctity of the GPK premises. He called upon all stakeholders and members of the public to collectively ensure that the facility is properly maintained and remains clean and accessible for public use.
Earlier, AD Panchayati Raj Department Mr Krishna Limboo welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries and members of the public and highlighted the significance of the newly constructed GPK.
Panchayat President Tasenthang Ward No.2 12- Nambu Sindrabung GPU Mr R. B. Limboo, presented a report on the GPK and expressed appreciation for the completion of the new building. He stated that the facility would further strengthen the functioning of the Panchayat and provide a suitable platform for interaction between the Panchayat and the public.
The programme also featured cultural performances by students of Government Junior High School, Nambu, and the staff of the GPK. The Village Profile of 12-Nambu-Sindrabung GPU was also released by the Chief Guest.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to the Chief Guest, Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, District Collector, Gyalshing, ADC (Development), RDD, Gyalshing, and BDO, Gyalshing. Retired government officials, senior citizens and the contractor were also honoured with Letters of Appreciation in recognition of their contributions and support.
The newly constructed GPK is expected to provide a dedicated space for Panchayat meetings, administrative activities and public interaction. The facility is poised to facilitate better coordination in the implementation of various development programmes and government schemes and bring public services closer to the people of the 12-Nambu-Sindrabung GPU.
