Soreng, October 8 (IPR): A monthly meeting was held today at the District Administration Centre in Soreng between the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and representatives of political parties.
The EROs present at the meeting were: Mr Daya Ram Bista, ADC I - 08 Salghari-Zoom (SC), Ms. Sakchum Lepcha, SDM - 07 Soreng-Chakung, Mr. Prem K Subba, SDM (HQ) - 06 Daramdin (BL), Mr. Santosh Kumar Allay, ADC II - 05 Rinchenpong (BL).
During the meeting, preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025 were discussed. The officers provided an overview of the implementation process, which is being undertaken as part of the Election Commission of India’s (ECI)initiative to purify and update the electoral rolls.
The meeting covered key revision activities, including:
* Form 6: For inclusion of new voters
* Form 7: For raising objections and deletion of names
* Form 8: For changes such as shifting of residence, correction of details, and replacement of (EPIC) Electors Photo Identity Card.
The status and role of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties were also reviewed.
Additionally, the role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the verification process during SIR was discussed in detail.
It was intimated that elector mapping of voters prior to 2022 had been completed in all constituencies of the district, and the current matching status stood at 68 percent. A request for the creation of three new polling stations was also briefly discussed and is currently under consideration.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim.
