MLA LB Das Visits Private Companies and Mining Sites at Rangpo


Pakyong, September 20 (IPR): MLA of West Pendam Constituency and Advisor, Land Revenue & Disaster Management and Information Technology, Government of Sikkim, Mr LB Das, conducted a visit to private companies operating in the area, as well as Rangpo SSS and mining sites, today.

He was accompanied by Councillors Mr Pinku Prasad and Ms Larishna Tamang; Pharmaceutical Companies Coordinator to the Government of Sikkim, Mr Hari Dangal, along with local dignitaries.

The purpose of the visit was to review the functioning of private industrial establishments, observe their ongoing activities, and identify issues faced by the companies in the region. The MLA also assessed the contribution of these industries to local employment and the economy of the constituency.

Mr LB Das, during his interaction, outlined the Government of Sikkim’s policy under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang, which focuses on creating a supportive environment for industries, promoting employment generation, and advancing skill development among youth.

He called upon company representatives to follow corporate social responsibility practices and to ensure that their activities benefit local communities. He also underlined the importance of environmental responsibility in industrial operations. The MLA urged the industries to strengthen cooperation with local entrepreneurs and youth, enabling more opportunities for collaboration and livelihood support.

The visit included discussions between government representatives and company officials on improving coordination, enhancing workforce participation, and addressing challenges related to industrial growth. The interactions concluded with a shared understanding of the need to balance industrial progress with community welfare and environmental safeguards.
