MLA Aditya Golay Inaugurates Pari Prakashan Office cum Library in Soreng
Soreng, September 4 (IPR): On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, Pari Prakashan officially inaugurated its office cum library at Soreng, today. The office cum library was formally inaugurated by MLA, Soreng-Chakung Constituency, Mr Aditya Golay.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Mr Aditya Golay congratulated Pari Prakashan and appreciated the organisation for its significant contribution towards the promotion and advancement of Nepali literature. He lauded its efforts in providing recognition to writers and encouraging literary activities in the state. He also highlighted various government initiatives aimed at promoting literature.
Speaking on the importance of promoting Nepali language for competitive examinations, particularly the UPSC Civil Services Examination, he stated that Nepali-speaking aspirants would be able to express their ideas more effectively.
Further, he assured that the government would continue to extend support and assistance to initiatives aimed at contributing to the development and progress of the state in every possible field.
President (Pari Prakashan) cum Vice Chairman (ITS), Mr CP Sharma delivered the welcome address and highlighted the aims and objectives of the organisation. Speaking about the foundation of Pari Prakashan, he informed that the organisation has decided to observe its foundation day every year in Soreng district on October 1.
He informed that Pari Prakashan has published several books authored by writers who were previously not widely recognised in the state. The organisation has also published books focusing on the life journeys of litterateurs of the state, thereby contributing towards documenting and preserving the literary heritage of Sikkim.
He further informed that the newly inaugurated library will provide UPSC guidebooks and other study materials for aspirants who wish to opt for Nepali as a medium in the Main Examination. He stated that Pari Prakashan has identified 17 Nepali writers for its upcoming publications as part of its continued efforts to contribute to and promote Nepali literature. He also outlined the conditions and guidelines for accessing and becoming a member of the library.
Political Secretary to HCM, Mr Jacob Khaling also addressed the gathering and congratulated Pari Prakashan on the initiative. He stated that education and literature play an important role in the development of a region and the state. He highlighted that Soreng has produced several accomplished writers who have represented the state in the field of literature at the national and international levels.
He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang for his vision and initiatives, which, he said, have helped make several such developments possible in the state. He further emphasised the need to translate Nepali literary works into other languages so that readers from different linguistic backgrounds can access and appreciate Nepali literature.
Technical Secretary cum AD (IT) Mr Amir Bhandari provided an overview of Pari Prakashan and highlighted the journey of the organisation since its establishment, including its initiatives and contributions towards the promotion of literature. He also apprised the gathering about the official website of Pari Prakashan, www.pariprakashan.org, through which information about the organisation and its literary initiatives can be accessed.
During the programme, the gathering also observed a one-minute silence in remembrance of those affected by the recent floods in Nepal.
