Minister inaugurates Veterinary Dispensary at Mangshila


Mangan, January 28 (IPR): Minister for Forest & Environment, Science & Technology, and Mines & Geology Departments, Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, inaugurated the newly constructed Veterinary Dispensary at Mangshila today.

The inaugural programme was attended by Chairman NDMU Mr Samten Bhutia, Additional Director, AH&VS, Dr Dechen O. Kaleon, Joint Director Dr. Hissey Doma Lepcha, Veterinary Officer-cum-Incharge Dr. Rinchen Lhamu Bhutia, OSD Mr Roshan Limboo, Panchayat President, Zilla and Ward Panchayats of Mangshila, along with officials from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Mangan, and members of the public.

Congratulating the department on the successful completion of the infrastructure, the Minister emphasised the crucial role the Veterinary Dispensary will play in providing accessible veterinary care, disease prevention, vaccination services and livestock health support to farmers and livestock owners of the area. He stated that the facility would contribute significantly to rural livelihoods, overall development of the region and improved service delivery to the people.

The Minister also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the land owner, Mr Kumar Limboo, for his cooperation and contribution, and to the contractor, Mr Mon Kumar Limboo, for his dedicated service and timely completion of the project despite various challenges.

He further urged the concerned officials to ensure proper maintenance of the infrastructure and to work with commitment in delivering efficient and quality veterinary services to the people.

During the visit, the Minister toured the premises and, in discussion with Additional Director Dr Dechen O Kaleon, was apprised of the need for construction of an approach road to facilitate the regular transportation of vaccines and animal feed, as well as the requirement of a protective wall to safeguard the infrastructure. The Minister assured that the matter would be looked into.

It may be mentioned that the Veterinary Dispensary project was sanctioned in July 2023 at a cost of ₹32,21,420 and was completed within 12 months.
