Soreng, August 25 (IPR): The District Collector, Soreng, Mr Dhiraj Subedi, chaired a meeting to address issues related to LPG cylinder booking and distribution in the district at the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Soreng, today.
The meeting discussed various concerns raised by consumers, regarding the bookings and distribution process of LPG cylinders along with other matters pertaining to supply. The District Collector interacted with the LPG supplier and distributors to assess the prevailing challenges and explore measures to ensure smooth and timely supply to consumers.
It was noted that the district is currently facing a shortfall in LPG supply against the existing demand, resulting in prolonged difficulties for consumers. The meeting stressed the need to increase the supply to the district and bridge the gap between demand and availability.
To address consumer grievances more effectively, the distributors were advised to establish a dedicated helpline number for consumers to register complaints and seek assistance regarding booking, delivery and other LPG-related issues.
The District Collector further informed that the matter would be reviewed after one month to assess the status of the measures undertaken and the improvement in LPG supply and distribution.
The meeting also discussed the existing timeframe for the supply of LPG cylinders to Soreng. In view of Soreng’s recent transition to a Nagar Panchayat, the need to revise the existing supply timeframe from 45 days to 25 days was highlighted. The District Collector requested, Plant Manager, Indane LPG Bottling Plant Bagey Khola, Mr Ajay, who joined the meeting through video conference, to examine the matter and take immediate necessary action.
The meeting concluded with a focus on improving LPG availability, by increasing the supply to the district and intimating distributors for ensuring timely delivery to consumers across the district.
Also present were: Mr PK Subba of the Sikkim Scheduled Tribe Welfare Board, Panchayat President (Dodak) Mr Harsha K Chettri, Additional District Magistrate, Soreng Mr DR Bista, ADC (Development) Mr Ongdi Sherpa, DCSO Mr Jas Man Subba, MEO (Soreng) Mr Roshan Sharma, Deputy General Manager (STCS) Ms Jaya Shree Rai officials and representatives from Food & Civil Supplies Department, LPG distributor representatives, STCS officials, consumer representatives, Common Service Centre Representative and other stakeholders, including other panchayat members.
