Namchi, June 17 (IPR): In a concerted effort to improve sanitation and prepare for the monsoon season, a mass cleanliness drive was carried out across Namchi under the leadership of MLA Mr Satish Chandra Rai, today.
The drive covered the stretch from Kishan Market to Jorethang Road, including the main bazaar area. Participants undertook extensive cleaning of drains and public spaces to ensure smooth drainage during the monsoon and to promote better public health and hygiene.
The cleanliness campaign was organised with the objective of preventing drain blockages, reducing the risk of water-logging during heavy rainfall, and creating awareness on the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.
Joining the initiative were Mr Ganesh Rai, Chairman NMC, Mr Yogen Tamang, MEO Namchi, Mr Santa Kr Rai, Deputy Director, Urban Development Department (UDD) and Ms Pratima Subba, Bazaar Officer (UDD), along with officials and staff members.
