A training programme on the Village Prosperity and Resilience Plan (VPRP) was organised today by the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Mangan, under the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM), Rural Development Department.
The initiative, guided by the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), aims to foster convergence with various line departments to strengthen support services for Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Sikkim.
The session was conducted by Assistance Project Manager (SRLM/RDD) Mr Alphonse Lepcha, and graced by Deputy Director (Education) Mr Topden Lepcha as the chief guest. Also present were the Panchayat President, Zilla members, and the Block-Level Coordination Committee of VPRP.
As part of the programme, a house discussion was also held, allowing participants to engage in meaningful dialogue on local issues, opportunities and strategies for enhancing SHG initiatives through effective convergence and resilience planning.
The training emphasised the role of the State and Block-level Steering Committees in monitoring and reviewing field-level activities, thereby ensuring the holistic development and prosperity of rural communities.
The event concluded with a shared commitment among participants to actively support SHGs and strengthen community-led planning, marking another significant step towards achieving inclusive and sustainable rural development in District.
