Line Departments Gear Up for Three-Day Chirbirey River Fest

Namchi, September 15 (IPR): Ahead of the upcoming three-day Chirbirey River Fest, organised by the Sikkim Anglers’ Association (SAA) in collaboration with the Fisheries Department, Government of Sikkim, Nodal Officers from various line departments convened for a coordination meeting at Chirbirey today.

The meeting focused on strengthening inter-departmental coordination and chalking out method of operation for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the festival. Discussions also centred on the renovation and improvement of the designated event area in preparation for the three-day celebration.

The Chirbirey River Fest marks 25 years of the Anglers’ Association’s river stewardship and its continued commitment to river health, conservation and sustainable angling practices. The three-day festival will feature a range of entertainment and recreational activities, with the Catch-and-Release Angling Competition as the main attraction. Riverside camping and other activities are also expected to bring together angling enthusiasts while promoting freshwater fishing, responsible angling and river conservation.

The festival is envisioned as a platform to celebrate Sikkim’s rich freshwater ecosystems while fostering greater awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting its rivers for future generations.
