New UIDAI Aadhaar Seva Kendra inaugurated in Gangtok, Sikkim
Continuing our efforts to increase accessibility of Aadhaar Services in Sikkim, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) opened a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) in Gangtok today dtd 21-05-2026. Operated by UIDAI, the Aadhaar Seva Kendra is now operational at Ground Floor, Tadong Bazar, Near Vishal Mega Mart, Gangtok, Sikkim- 737102.
The Deputy Director General, UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati, Shri Ngachan Zimik inaugurated the ASK Gangtok. Lt. Col. Swapan Kumar Saxena, Director, UIDAI Regional Office Guwahati and Shri Thupten Geleg, Joint Director, DESM&E, Govt. of Sikkim were also present on this auspicious occasion.
Shri Ngachan Zimik , DDG, UIDAI RO Guwahati appealed to the people of Sikkim to visit the newly opened Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Gangtok to avail Aadhaar-related services in a hassle-free manner. He also emphasized the importance of the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) for children to ensure that their Aadhaar is not suspended and to ensure uninterrupted access to services that require Aadhaar authentication. The MBU is mandatory for children once they reach the age of 5 years (MBU-1) and again at 15 years (MBU-2). Aadhaar with updated biometrics facilitates ease of living and ensures seamless usage while availing services such as school admissions, registration for entrance examinations, scholarships, and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes, wherever applicable
This centre can process up to 250 Aadhaar enrolment and update requests per day. Individuals can avail Aadhaar related services like Aadhaar enrolment and updation of address, name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email and biometric details (photo, fingerprints & Iris).
Individuals can book an appointment through UIDAIās appointment portal
(https://bookappointment.uidai.gov.in/) and choose a date and time as per their convenience. The Aadhaar Seva Kendra operates all seven days of the week, except on public holidays, enabling the public to access services on any day of the week.
Individuals are requested to bring original documents for Enrolment/Update as original documents are scanned & given back to the individuals after completion of the enrolment/update request. One can find the list of acceptable documents from
