Pakyong, October 10 (IPR): MP Lok Sabha, Dr Indra Hang Subba, alongside DC Pakyong, Mr Rohan Agawane, attended the Cohort programme, launched by District Administrative Centre (DAC) Pakyong, in collaboration with Nomad Village, at Digital Nomad Village, Yakten today.

Also present were experts including Chairman of the Maharashtra State Finance Commission, Dr Nitin Kareer (IAS), Co-Founder of Elder Aid Wellness and Phicus, Dr Vandana Nadig Nair.

The Cohort programme is designed to empower and energise Sikkim’s entrepreneurial landscape, in alignment with the Chief Minister’s vision of “One Family, One Entrepreneur.” The initiative brings together two groups: aspiring and established entrepreneurs from Sikkim and a cohort of professionals from across India with expertise in technology, design, marketing, finance and more.

In addition, the participants also collaborate in intensive, hands-on problem-solving sessions to develop innovative, practical solutions to the challenges faced by local entrepreneurs in Sikkim.

Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Dr Indra Hang Subba, in his address highlighted Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage and its potential across key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, biodiversity and natural resource management.

He commended the initiative for bringing together experts from diverse fields to directly engage with the young entrepreneurs, providing them with valuable mentorship and support, emphasising that such collaborations are beneficial in promoting a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem across the state. Additionally, he urged the establishment of Nomad Villages concept and Cohort Programmes in every district to ensure access to opportunities that would foster entrepreneurship in every corner of the state.

Emphasising the Chief Minister’s initiative of “One Family, One Entrepreneur,” he provided assurance that the state government would provide necessary support and assistance to entrepreneurs to grow and create sustainable businesses.

Additionally, DC Pakyong highlighted the potential for entrepreneurship in the region and applauded the forum for its productive efforts in supporting local entrepreneurs.

The day also featured a session wherein aspiring entrepreneurs presented their business ideas, shared their long-term vision and discussed the challenges they face.

The mentors as well recounted their personal entrepreneurial experiences and elaborated on the support systems in place to help entrepreneurs strengthen and expand their businesses and start-ups.
