District Level Sports Meet 2025–2026 Held at Namchi.

Namchi, 8 March (IPR): A District Level Sports Meet was jointly organised by Sports & Youth Affairs Department in collaboration with MY Bharat Kendra Namchi, KIC Namchi and STC SAI Namchi at Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi, today.

Vice-Chairman Namchi Municipal Council (NMC) Ms Sabitri Tamang, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She was accompanied by Zilla Panchayat Mickhola Ms Binita Rai, NMC Councillor Ms Mamta Kalikotay, and Executive Councillor Ms Nima Choden Lepcha as special guests.

The programme commenced with football matches between Rising Roots Bhangyang and Praggati Samaj Assangthang and between Kitam FC and Ratna Jyoti Nandugoan. Praggati Samaj Assangthang secured a convincing 2–0 victory, while Kitam FC defeated Ratna Jyoti Nandugoan 3–0, with both teams advancing to the final.

The final match was played between Praggati Samaj Assangthang and Kitam FC, where Praggati Samaj Assangthang emerged victorious with a 2–1 win.

Apart from football, the event also featured various athletic competitions including 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m sprint races. Other activities such as tug-of-war and archery were also conducted.

The programme further included a boxing match at Boxing Hall Plaza and a Taekwondo match at STC SAI, Namchi.

The event concluded on a successful note, with the Chief Guest presenting gold, silver, and bronze medals along with Certificates of Merit to the winners and participants.

Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Director of the Sports & Youth Affairs Department Mr Basant Pradhan, who served as the overall in-charge of the event, District Programme Coordinator of MY Bharat Namchi Mr B. S. Mallick, STC-SAI Namchi In-charge Mr Rupen Pradhan, along with staff members of the Sports & Youth Affairs Department and participants.
