Mangan, September 29 (IPR): District Collector-cum-Chairman Mr Anant Jain chaired the Price Monitoring and Regulation Committee Preparatory meeting at DAC Mangan today.
The meeting was attended by SDM Mangan Mr Sandeep Kumar, ASP Mangan Mr Bijoy Subba, DCSO Mr Palden N Lachungpa, RTO Mr Tempo Rinzing Bhutia, Joint Director AH&VS Dr Hissey Doma Lepcha, Deputy RTO Mr Zigmee D Bhutia and MEO Mr Karzong Bhutia, shop keepers and stakeholders.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by DCSO, Mr Palden N Lachungpa, who briefed the members on the need for effective price regulation and monitoring in the district. He explained the distinction between regulated and non-regulated commodities and emphasised the importance of proper monitoring to ensure fair pricing and protect consumer interests.
He also highlighted the issue of black marketing and the need for strict monitoring to prevent such practices.
He further informed that the Price Monitoring and Regulation Committee has been constituted with representatives from various departments, each entrusted with specific roles and responsibilities.
SDM, Mr Sandeep Kumar, gave a detailed presentation on the pricing mechanism, explaining the various factors involved in price determination and the importance of maintaining transparency and fairness in the pricing of essential commodities. He also highlighted the need for regular monitoring to ensure compliance with prescribed norms and to safeguard consumers from overcharging.
District Collector cum Chairman of the Committee Mr Anant Jain in his address outlined the way forward for effective implementation of the Committee’s objectives.
The session was followed by an interactive discussion involving officials, shopkeepers and other stakeholders, who shared their concerns and suggestions on price regulation and monitoring.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by SDM Mr Sandeep Kumar.
