Soreng, August 4 (IPR): The District-Level NCORD Committee, Soreng, held its monthly review meeting for July and August at the District Administrative Centre, Soreng. The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson-cum-District Collector, Mr Dhiraj Subedi.
The house reviewed the action taken on decisions from the previous meeting, where ADC (Soreng) Mr DR Bista presented the agenda-wise items before the house.
During the meeting, the members discussed the need to identify a suitable location for a de-addiction centre in the district. The District Collector proposed two potential sites and directed the concerned departments to complete the necessary documentation and carry out a detailed inspection before taking further steps.
Additionally, the District Collector directed all departmental representatives to coordinate closely with the concerned departments and submit their departmental activity reports to the district administration at the earliest.
The committee also reviewed district-wide awareness programmes on drug abuse prevention. Department-wise progress reports were presented and discussed. Senior Welfare Officer (Soreng) Mrs Prativa Tamang informed the house that the Social Welfare Department has been conducting awareness programmes in schools and colleges across the district.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
Present during the meeting were ASP (Soreng) Mr Parsu Ram Sharma, SDM (HQ) Mr Prem K Subba, Assistant Commandant (36 Battalion, SSB) Mr LS Meena, Drug Inspector (Drug Cell) Mr Lakpa Sangay Sherpa and representatives from various line departments.
