Coordination Meeting held for State Day Celebrations

Gangtok, May 11 (IPR):

Chief Secretary Mr R Telang chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall of Tashiling Secretariat today to assess the preparedness for the forthcoming State Day Celebrations 2026.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary Mr R Telang directed all departments concerned to maintain close coordination and ensure the timely completion of assigned responsibilities. Stressing the importance of efficient planning and collective effort, he called for seamless inter-departmental coordination for the successful conduct of the celebrations.

The meeting extensively reviewed arrangements related to logistics, security, protocol, traffic management, accommodation, cultural programmes, venue management and other essential services for the upcoming event.

Detailed discussions were also held on crowd management, sanitation, parking arrangements, deployment of personnel, emergency response measures and other operational aspects to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the celebrations.

Officials informed the meeting that necessary arrangements were being made in view of the scheduled programmes and the expected presence of dignitaries during the celebration. Departments also presented updates on the preparations undertaken in their respective sectors.

State Day is observed annually on May 16 to commemorate Sikkim’s merger with the Indian Union in 1975 and its recognition as the 22nd state of the country.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr S.D. Dhakal, Heads of Departments, Secretaries, senior officials and representatives from paramilitary forces.
