Gyalshing,March 8:The closing ceremony of the one-month-long Basic Training on Bamboo & Wooden Handicrafts under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, organised by the Commerce & Industries Department, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with Khechuperi Bamboo House, Thingling, successfully concluded,today.
The programme was graced by Zilla Adhakshya,Gyalshing District Mr Ds Limboo as Chief guest accompanied by Mr SM Limboo, BDO Yuksam; Mr Basant Tamang, OSD Yuksam–Tashiding; Mr Milan Limboo Social Welfare Inspector; Mr Deepen Pradhan Food Inspector, Thingling; Mr Kumar Basnett, Ward Panchayat; Mr KB Rai, Headmaster, Lethang Primary School; Mr Lesha Limboo, Former Panchayat President of Gerethang GP; and Mr SK Limboo, Former Panchayat Member.
The programme was attended by social workers, media personnel, trainees from Thingling and Gerethang GPUs, and members of the local public.
This training initiative aimed to equip local youth and artisans with practical skills in bamboo and wooden handicrafts, promoting self-reliance and livelihood opportunities.
The Chief Guest in his address emphasised the importance of skill-based training for sustainable livelihood, stating that learning practical skills is the need of the present era.
During the programme, the Proprietor of Khechuperi Bamboo House,Mr Indra Kari Limboo, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Commerce & Industries Department and Hon’ble Minister Tshering T Bhutia for their constant support and encouragement in promoting local industries and empowering rural communities.
An official website of Khechuperi Bamboo House was also launched during the ceremony.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr Hangsal Limboo.
