Chhattisgarh Press Fraternity Pays Courtesy Visit to Chief Minister at Mintokgang


Gangtok, February 20 (IPR): A 12-member delegation from the Chhattisgarh press fraternity, led by Mr Manas P Sharma, Assistant Director, PIB Gangtok, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang at Mintokgang today.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister shared detailed insights into various developmental initiatives and progressive policies undertaken by the Government of Sikkim. He highlighted the State’s serene ecology and its strategic importance as a border State sharing international boundaries with China, Nepal and Bhutan. Emphasising sustainable development, he spoke about the ongoing organic farming practices in Sikkim and their successful impact on the economy of the State. He further underlined the importance of environmental conservation measures and extensive forest cover, which have collectively strengthened Sikkim’s identity as a Green State of the Nation.

The Chief Minister further elaborated on key welfare measures and infrastructure development projects implemented across sectors including health, education, rural development and tourism. Special emphasis was laid on the successful implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes and flagship programmes of the Government of India in convergence with State initiatives. The visiting journalists engaged in a constructive exchange, raising queries regarding policy execution, monitoring mechanisms and grassroots outreach of various schemes, to which the Chief Minister responded with comprehensive clarifications and examples from field-level implementation.

The interaction also reflected a shared commitment towards strengthening inter-state media collaboration and promoting informed reportage on developmental models.

As a mark of mutual respect and goodwill, the Chhattisgarh delegation presented a commemorative token to the Chief Minister. The visiting members were also presented with souvenirs and offered traditional khadas as tokens of respect and hospitality.

Also present during the meeting were Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Yougan Tamang, Additional Director, Mr Vishal Khawas, and DIO Gangtok, Mr Dependra Sharma of the Information and Public Relations Department.
