Gyalshing, February 18 (IPR):An eleven-member delegation of journalists from Chhattisgarh visited Gyalshing District today as part of an official exposure visit to observe the implementation of key Central and State Government flagship programmes and various developmental initiatives being undertaken across the State.
The delegation was led by the Press Information Bureau (PIB, Raipur), Young Professional, Mr Purushottam Jha along with PIB official from Gangtok.
The visiting team comprised ten journalists representing print, electronic and digital media platforms. The delegation is on a tour to gain firsthand insight into governance practices, service delivery mechanisms and grassroots development models adopted in Sikkim.
Upon arrival in Gyalshing, the delegation was received by the Additional District Collector (ADC), Gyalshing, Mr Suresh Rai, along with officials of the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), Gyalshing. The team was accorded a warm welcome with traditional khadas.
Expressing gratitude, MrJha and the team thanked District Administration and IPRD officials for their warm reception and appreciated the opportunity to gain insight into various district-level initiatives and ongoing developmental efforts.
Senior Information Assistant(SIA), IPRD Gyalshing, Mr Bishal Shanker, accompanied the delegation throughout the visit and briefed the team on the historical, cultural and administrative significance of the locations visited. He also shared information on ongoing Central and State Government projects, along with district-level initiatives being implemented under the guidance of the District Collector, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa.
As part of the district exposure programme, the delegation also visited prominent tourist and heritage destinations of Gyalshing, including the Pelling Skywalk and Chenrezig Statue, a major attraction for visitors and pilgrims and Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most revered monasteries in Sikkim.
The visit aims to strengthen inter-state media exchange and promote greater awareness of Sikkimâs developmental journey, cultural heritage and tourism potential.
