Gangtok, September 4 (IPR):
The Award of Excellence for Promoting Rural and Sustainable Tourism, conferred upon Sikkim Tourism at the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) Mumbai held from August 20 to 22, 2026, was formally handed over to Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang by Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Mr Tshering T. Bhutia at Samman Bhawan.
The award acknowledges the State’s efforts to strengthen rural tourism, increase local community participation and preserve its natural and cultural heritage.
The recognition reflects the collective efforts of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, tourism stakeholders, local communities and the tourism fraternity in strengthening the State’s tourism sector.
The achievement further reinforces Sikkim’s commitment to sustainable tourism and its efforts to emerge as a leading destination for responsible and experiential travel.
