Mangan, June 15 (IPR): Additional District Collector, Mangan, Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa, chaired the monthly election coordination meeting with political party representatives in his office today.
The meeting was attended by representatives from two political parties of Sikkim namely Sikkim Krantikari Morcha and Citizen Action Party.
The meeting was also attended by Joint Secretary, Election Department, Mangan, Mr Karma Sherpa.
The meeting was held to review and reinforce the constitutional provisions, statutory requirements, and guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India to ensure the effective and transparent conduct of electoral processes.
The meeting primarily focused on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Roll in the State, covering the status of enumeration forms, draft electoral rolls, and awareness campaigns related to the revision process.
Queries and concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process were raised by representatives of political parties during the meeting. Additional District Magistrate addressed the issues raised and provided necessary clarifications to ensure a clear understanding of the revision process.
Following the meeting, the quarterly inspection of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was conducted in accordance with the mandate of the Election Commission of India, also in the presence of representatives of political parties.
