Pakyong, September 1(IPR): ADC (Development), Pakyong Mr Sangay Gyatso Bhutia , along with the District Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Coordinator and Block Coordinators, visited the Waste Treatment Facility at Martam to study the functioning and waste management practices adopted at the facility. The President of Pakyong Nagar Panchayat and the Municipal Executive Officer (MEO), Pakyong Nagar Panchayat, also joined the visit.
The visit was undertaken to gain a practical understanding of the overall functioning of the waste treatment facility, including the processes involved in the collection, segregation, processing, treatment and disposal of different categories of waste.
During the visit, the team observed the various stages of waste management and examined how biodegradable, recyclable, non-recyclable and other categories of waste are segregated and scientifically handled. The team also reviewed the systems and procedures followed at the facility for processing waste and reducing the quantity of waste ultimately sent for disposal.
The visit provided an opportunity for the district and block-level officials, along with representatives of the Nagar Panchayat, to understand the operational aspects of scientific waste management and identify practices that could be adopted or strengthened within Pakyong District.
The visit also focused on strengthening coordination among the concerned departments and local bodies for effective implementation of solid waste management measures and promoting scientific and sustainable waste management practices across the district.
