86th Nar Bahadur Bhandari Jayanti Observed in Gangtok

Gangtok, Oct 5 (IPR): The 86th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Sikkim, Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari, was celebrated today at Samman Bhawan, Gangtok, with Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang as the chief guest.

The programme was attended by Deputy Speaker, Cabinet Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary, elected representatives, former legislators, political functionaries, secretaries, senior government officials and other dignitaries.

The commemorative programme commenced with the Chief Minister and other dignitaries lighting the ceremonial lamp in remembrance of the late leader.

This was followed by a special address on the life and contributions of Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari, delivered by OSD, Culture Department, Mr Neelam Neopaney.

He elaborated on the life, political journey and contributions of the former Chief Minister, providing an account of his role in the development and progress of Sikkim.

The programme also featured the screening of a documentary produced by the Information and Public Relations Department, showcasing the life, legacy and contributions of Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Secretary, Home (Protocol), Ms Benu Gurung.
