Gangtok, September 2 (IPR):The second consultative meeting on the Sikkim Digital Media Empanelment Guidelines 2026 was held today at the Conference Hall of the Information and Public Relations Department ,Gangtok.
Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department, Ms Annapurna Alley, in her keynote address, underscored the importance of formulating the guidelines, describing them as necessary and the need of the hour. She expressed the aim of releasing the guidelines on National Press Day and thanked the stakeholders for their participation, inputs and suggestions towards formulating an effective digital media empanelment framework for the State.
The meeting witnessed detailed discussions on various aspects of digital media empanelment, including the composition of the Sikkim Digital Media Empanelment Committee, provisions relating to review and revocation of empanelment, empanelment fee, validity period, accreditation and the procedure for empanelment.
The stakeholders also discussed rectifications to the guidelines identified during the pilot meeting, along with further inputs and suggestions for strengthening the proposed guidelines.
The meeting was attended by Chairman, Information and Public Relations Department, Mr Ashit Rai, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr Yougan Tamang, Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Mr Sunil Mohtey, President, Press Club of Sikkim, Mr Samir Hang Limboo, President, Journalists’ Union of Sikkim, Mr Prabin Khaling, officials and staff of the Information and Public Relations Department, and members of the Press Club of Sikkim and Journalists’ Union of Sikkim.
