Gantok, 21 August (IPR): Time Capsule 2025-2075, a 32-kg rose-gold cylinder is symbolically designed as a “message for the future”. June 316L is made of surgical-grade stainless steel. This morning at Rustomji Deer Park, Tashiling Secretariat premises it has been sealed and closed for the next 50 years.

Sikkim Government's Information and Public Relations Department (IPR) has started the historic work on the occasion of 50 years of state establishment.

With the dignified presence of Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang in the program, the presence of Sikkim Assembly President Shri Mingma Narbu Sherpa, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Deputy Mayor, GMC, Advisers and Chairmen. Along with this, the ceremony was also participated by Chief Secretary, Mr. R Telang, Director General of Police, Mr. Akshay Sachdeva, Chief Secretaries, Secretaries, Senior Officers and staff of various departments.

Time capsule will remain sealed till 16 May 2075. It is informed to be opened on the historic occasion of the 100th anniversary of the state of Sikkim.

Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang in his address, said the time capsule 2025-2075 sealbandi as an important moment in the history of Sikkim. Appreciated the Department of Information and Public Relations for the concept and implementation of this project.

He expressed his gratitude for the support from various communities, citizens, educational institutions and government bodies, stating that the department has carefully kept the state's cultural, customs and developmental achievements in capsules for future generations.

When the capsule opened in 2075, he expressed hope to testify Sikkim's perseverance, development and solidarity and inspire future generations.

In her welcome speech Mrs. Annapurna Alle, Secretary of the Department of Information and Public Relations, explained the journey from concept to implementation of the time capsule project.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for guiding the project with her personal approach and touch and preparing a treasure in the history of the state by formally closing the capsules. He expressed extra gratitude for the various presentations received from government departments, organizations, schools, communities as well as more than 500 citizens.

It is notable that on 16th May 2025, on the occasion of State Day celebrations, Governor Mr. Omprakash Mathur and Chief Minister Mr. Premsingh Tamang have launched an important project Time Capsule 2025-2075 of IPR Department.

This additional department has received an exceptional collection of memories, artifacts, letters and dreams from citizens, government departments, communities, schools and state leaders. These presentations, both physically and digitally, have been carefully collected by the department for closing in capsules.

It can also be mentioned that the public display of the time capsule replica has been placed on the MG route of Gantok. Which is placed in transparent glass. In which its contents will be easy to understand the symbolism of the past and future.
