Namchi, 14 January (IPR): As part of the ongoing Maghey Sankranti Mela 2026, a Road Safety Awareness programme was organised to promote safe and responsible use of roads among the general public.
On the occasion, the Governor of Sikkim, Mr Om Prakash Mathur, administered the Road Safety Pledge and jointly flagged off a motorcycle rally along with the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang. The initiative highlighted the importance of responsible driving practices and the protection of pedestrians.
The programme was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chairpersons, senior officers of the Government of Sikkim, as well as motorcycle riders from Sikkim and neighbouring States.
The observance aimed to sensitise citizens towards strict adherence to traffic rules and to foster a culture of road safety, ensuring the well-being of all road users.
