Namchi, August 28 (IPR): The Pang Lhabsol Celebration 2026 culminated at Udhar Che-Sum Mani Chokerling Gumpa, Ravangla, today, with religious fervour and devotion. The annual celebration is dedicated to Mount Khangchendzonga, revered as the guardian deity of Sikkim, and holds deep spiritual and cultural significance.
The occasion also commemorates the sacred bond of brotherhood between the Bhutia and Lepcha communities, symbolising unity and harmony in Sikkim.
The celebration, which commenced on August 25 and concluded today, was organised by the All Sikkim Bhutia Association and Pang Lhabsol Gumpa Committee under the patronage of Area MLA Barfung, Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia.
The concluding day was attended by His Eminence the 10th Sangay Nygpa Rinpoche, Venerable Sangter Tulku Rimpoche, Area MLA Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia, Chairperson LRMDD Mr TT Bhutia, Chairperson State Women Commission Ms Teny Doma Bhutia, APS to HCM Namchi Mr Bishnu Prasad Sharma, SDM Ravangla Mr Saran Kalikotey, SDM HQ Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia, SDM Namchi Mr Wangyal Sherpa along with other officials, members of the All Sikkim Bhutia Association, the Pang Lhabsol Gumpa Committee and monks from nearby monasteries and devotees at large.
At the onset, the gathering observed a two-minute silence in solidarity with the families affected by the devastating flood in Nepal, praying for the departed souls and strength and solace for the bereaved families.
In his address, SDM Ravangla spoke about the profound religious and cultural importance of Pang Lhabsol, noting that the festival pays homage to Mount Khangchendzonga as Sikkim’s guardian deity and commemorates the enduring unity and brotherhood shared by the Bhutia and Lepcha communities.
The concluding day witnessed traditional Buddhist rituals and the vibrant Pangtoed Cham (Masked Warrior Dance), reflecting Sikkim’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage. Thereafter, the devotees also received the Tsewang (Long-Life Blessing) from His Eminence the 10th Sangay Nygpa Rinpoche, seeking blessings for longevity, good health and peace.
