Mangan, April 20 (IPR): The week-long observance of National Fire Service Week under the aegis of Sikkim Fire & Emergency Service, Chungthang, culminated today with the awareness pepgramme held at Chungthang Panchayat Office.
The programme witnessed the presence of the Panchayat President, Panchayat members, local public, senior citizens, and shopkeepers of Chungthang Bazaar. Fire service personnel conducted an informative session highlighting the importance of fire safety, prevention measures, and emergency response mechanisms. The programme was held under the guidance of Sub Fire Officer, Chungthang, Mr Rinzing Lama, with tenacious participation of officers and staff of Chungthang Fire Station.
As part of the programme, practical demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers and basic firefighting equipment were carried out to enhance public preparedness in case of fire incidents. The initiative aimed to sensitize the community on fire hazards and promote a culture of safety and vigilance.
The observance, held from April 14 to April 20, focused on the theme “Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society – Together for Fire Prevention.” Participants actively engaged in the sessions and appreciated the efforts of the department in spreading awareness at the grassroots level.
The programme concluded successfully with positive public interaction and a renewed commitment towards ensuring fire safety within the community.
