Training on “Smart Proposals, Smarter Governance-Use of AI tools for DPR Preparation" concludes in Pakyong District.

One-day training programme for government officials on "Smart Proposals, Smarter Governance: Leveraging AI Tools for DPR Preparation," jointly organised by District Administrative Centre, Pakyong and Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Sikkim, successfully concluded today with its fourth batch at the DDMA Control Hall, Pakyong.
The four-day training cum workshop initiative, under the guidance of Dr Sandeep Tambe, IFS, Principal Secretary, Science and Technology Department, aimed to enhance digital proficiency and promote the effective use of Artificial Intelligence in the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), while providing participants with hands-on exposure to modern AI platforms and demonstrating how these tools can effectively support communication, content creation, research, data analysis, drafting project proposals, official noting, press releases, speeches and automation in office work.
The training session was facilitated by Assistant Scientific Officer and Master Resource Person, Dr Prativa Rai, who discussed the growing influence of AI technologies, emphasising their core benefits such as automation and efficiency, personalisation, enhanced decision-making, and the ability to solve complex problems. She also introduced participants to various AI tools designed for smarter text processing, including ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek AI and Copilot.
Additionally, Dr Rai emphasised ChatGPT, an AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, demonstrating its registration process, prompt creation, response generation and techniques for refining outputs.
She also explained the principles of effective prompt writing, outlining essential elements such as defining the role, providing context, specifying the task, setting the format and tone, and using examples, while discussing ChatGPT’s limitations, promoting its ethical and responsible use and maintaining data privacy and security.
Furthermore, she introduced several AI tools for presentation making, content creation, summarisation, data analysis, and visual representation, including Gamma AI, PoP AI, Napkin AI, Julius AI, and NotebookLM.
Following the technical session, a hands-on session was conducted wherein participants developed and presented the DPRs, applying the AI tools introduced during the training to create structured and data-driven proposals.
Additionally, the training included a live demonstration on step-by-step DPR generation using various AI tools, followed by a peer review exercise where participants exchanged their drafts, provided feedback, and refined their DPRs for clarity and effectiveness.
The training session concluded with the presentation of certificates to all participants, in the presence of ADC (Headquarter), Mr Sabindra Rai.
It is to be mentioned that a total of 100 government officials have been trained under the programme, enabling them to apply AI tools and techniques effectively in their professional roles.
The session was attended by officials from various departments under the district and officials from the Department of Science and Technology.
