Nasha Mukti Yuva for Viksit Bharat Programme At SMLGC Gyalshing Conducts Awareness Programme
Gyalshing, August 5: The Nasha Mukti Yuva for Viksit Bharat Programme, an awareness initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, was held at the Auditorium Hall of Sancha Man Limboo Government College, SMLGC Gyalshing.
The programme was jointly organised by My Bharat Kendra, Gyalshing, and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of SMILE to promote a drug-free society and encourage greater youth participation in nation-building with the motive “Let’s Come Together For A Drug-Free, Healthy, Empowered and Viksit Bharat”.
District Information Officer, Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), Gyalshing, Mr Rajen Tamang, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
The event was also attended by Principal, Prof. Dr Bhakta Kunwar; District Youth Officer, My Bharat Kendra, Gyalshing, Mr Pradeep Baisla; Headmaster, Lungzik Junior High School, Mr D.B. Subba; Teachers and students from various educational institutions across the district.
The programme commenced with the collective singing of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Anthem.
The Chief Guest, DIO IPRD Gyalshing Mr Tamang during his address thanked the organisor for making him the part of such a meaningful youth programme. He stressed various ill effects in the society due to the substances abuses. He undermined that to save our young youths from the ill effects of substances abuses in the society both the Governments at the State and the Centre have taken up significant initiatives like Nasha Mukt Bharat under My Viksit Bharat Programme. Various government departments and agencies are put into action all round the clock so that government achieve drug-free society and strong youths society. He stressed that it is not only the responsibility of the state and society but the responsibility should now come down to individual level, too. Our Strong youths and aware youths should become the guiding force in the society. Every individual should come forward to fight against the drug menaces and make our society drug-free society. Strong Youths should stand up against any kind of activities related to the substances abuses in their locality. Our strong youth should remain vigilant all the time and also report any such illegal activities before the conerned authourities well in time.
Addressing the gathering, Principal, SMLGC, Prof. Dr Bhakta Kunwar, highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat and India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He encouraged students to register on the My Bharat platform and actively participate in initiatives that contribute to nation-building. Stressing the importance of ambition, discipline and purpose, he urged young people to channel their abilities towards the country’s progress.
District Youth Officer, My Bharat Kendra, Gyalshing, Mr Pradeep Baisla, spoke on the role of youth in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat. Sharing his own experiences of leadership and community service, he encouraged students to make constructive use of the opportunities available to them and contribute meaningfully to society. He also highlighted the objectives of the My Bharat initiative and called upon students to support the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan by spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Urging them to become ambassadors ofc change, he encouraged the students to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle within their communities.
Earlier, Programme Officer NSS Unit SMLGC, Mr. Pema Loda Lepcha welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the programme.
As part of the events, competitions in poetry, singing, drama, painting, slogan writing, cultural performances and reel-making were organised to encourage students to creatively convey messages on drug abuse prevention and youth empowerment. Winners of the various competitions were felicitated in recognition of their outstanding performances. An orientation session on My Bharat registration was also conducted to familiarise participants with the platform and the opportunities it offers for youth engagement and volunteerism. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
