MLA Soreng-Chakung Attends Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop

Soreng, October 31 (IPR): MLA Soreng-Chakung Mr Aditya Golay graced the third day of Platinum Jubilee celebration of Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop, as the chief guest at the school premises, today.

While addressing the gathering on the occasion of the school's Platinum Jubilee celebration, the chief guest congratulated the institution on achieving this remarkable milestone. He then commended the efforts of the organising committee and appreciated every individual involved in making the event a success. Further, remembering the dedication and contribution of the school’s founders, he urged the students to strive with dedication and hard work to achieve success in life. The chief guest also highlighted the government’s efforts aimed at improving the lives of the people. Speaking on the state government's efforts in the education sector, he appealed to all communities to participate actively in the development and betterment of society.

Additionally, he emphasised the importance of preserving traditional values and cultural heritage and called upon everyone to safeguard and promote their rich traditions and culture.

Concluding his address, he encouraged students to be mentally strong and advised them to explore career and employment opportunities beyond their localities.

Also, the organising committee presented tokens of love to the chief guest and the guest of honour, expressing appreciation for their presence and support. The chief guest also released a book titled “Kaustub Kiran”, during the programme.

The day witnessed an engaging inter-school Spell Bee Competition, wherein Ms Bipana Rai representing Government Secondary School Dodak emerged as the winner, securing the first position with 55 points. Ms Dawa Norbu Sherpa from Government Secondary School Okhrey and Ms Januka Chettri from Government Secondary School Lungchok secured the second and third positions with 45 and 40 points, respectively.

The day also featured an inter-school Under-17 football tournament, where Government Senior Secondary School Sombaria triumphed over Government Senior Secondary School Tharpu with a score 7-1. Similarly, in the Men's Open Football Tournament, Red Panda FC emerged victorious against Sanju FA with a close score of 2-1.

Initially, the programme began with the welcome address delivered by Principal (Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop) Mrs Binita Basnett, while the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by PRT (Limboo Language) Mr TM Subba.

Also present during the event were Zilla Panchayat members, Panchayats, OSD to MLA Soreng-Chakung Mr Rajen Basnett, BDO (Soreng) Mr Paru Hang Subba, HoDs, officers and officials, teachers and students.
