Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation leads joint inspection of proposed Tourism sites in Yuksam-Tashiding.

Gyalshing, May 4 (IPR):

Minister for Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Mr Tshering T Bhutia, led a joint inspection visit to proposed and upcoming tourism sites in Yuksam-Tashiding under Gyalshing District,today.

The inspection covered key locations including the upcoming Eco-tourism Pilgrimage Complex (Green Tara Devi Statue) at Silnon Monastery, along with other potential sites identified for development under the Buddhist Circuit Scheme. The visit also focused on the re-development and beautification of existing tourism infrastructure in the region.

The joint field inspection aimed to assess the feasibility of proposed sites as well as evaluate the condition of existing tourism assets, with focus on enhancing the overall tourism potential of Yuksam-Tashiding.

The Minister was accompanied by a team of engineers from the Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation, including Principal Chief Engineer-Cum-Secretary Mr Neeraj Pradhan; Chief Engineer Mr Pratap Gautam; Superintendent Engineer Mr Ashok Chettri, along with other engineers and a team of architects from Pan Architecture, Gangtok. Gram Panchayat members and local stakeholders were also present during the inspection.

The visit commenced from Rangit Bridge and proceeded to Drakar Tashiding Monastery, where the team reviewed proposed sites under the Buddhist Circuit Scheme.

The Minister-led team then inspected the upcoming Eco-tourism Pilgrimage Complex (Green Tara Devi statue) at Silnon Monastery near Tashiding. The field inspection at Silnon Monastery was conducted in preparation for the initiation of construction work.

It may be noted that the foundation stone for this project was laid virtually by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on April 28 during his recent visit to Sikkim.

The Minister informed that construction work for the Eco-tourism Pilgrimage Complex (Green Tara Devi Statue) at Silnon Monastery will commence from tomorrow with accelerated execution.

During the inspection, the Minister also held meetings with the monastery management committees and local residents at Silnon and Tashiding.

The entourage later proceeded towards Yuksam, making a stop at Famrong Waterfall near Labing village. The Minister discussed possibilities for the development and beautification of the waterfall to enhance its tourism potential.

Upon reaching Yuksam, the team inspected existing tourism infrastructure to explore feasibilities for redevelopment, renovation, and beautification of key sites.

Throughout the day-long visit, officials also reviewed ongoing projects and existing infrastructure under the Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim.
