Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai Meets Governor Following Recommendation as Chief Justice of Patna High Court
Gangtok, 26 May (IPR): The designate Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, Justice Ms Meenakshi Madan Rai, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Sikkim, Mr Om Prakash Mathur, at Lok Bhavan today.
On 22 May 2026, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of Justice Ms Meenakshi Madan Rai as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Patna. A native of Sikkim, Justice Ms Rai is presently serving as the senior judge of the Sikkim High Court.
This was her first formal meeting with the Governor following her elevation as Chief Justice of a High Court.
During the courtesy meeting, the Governor extended his heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Justice Rai. Describing the occasion as a historic moment for Sikkim, the Governor said that she had brought immense pride to the State by becoming the first woman judge from Sikkim to be appointed as the Chief Justice of a High Court.
The Governor also expressed confidence that under her leadership, the Patna High Court would continue to uphold the highest traditions of justice, fairness and constitutional values.
